The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is comprised of six divisions dedicated to protecting, promoting, and managing a wide variety of New Hampshire's natural, recreational, and cultural resources. Together, these resources help define our state and are major drivers of our economy and high quality of life.
The DNCR was established by an act of the Legislature on July 1, 2017, following the reorganization of the former Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED). Two former DRED divisions - Parks & Recreation and Forests & Lands - combined with the divisions of the former Department of Cultural Resources - the State Library, State Council on the Arts, Division of Historical Resources, and Film & Digital Media - to form the DNCR.
We look forward to working with you to make sure your New Hampshire experience is the very best.
